The Thai government has realized the importance of this problem and determined a policy to promote Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) and Car Free Day with the aim to achieve sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation through the development of sidewalk and bike lane infrastructure throughout the country.

The current economic and social growth makes the urban areas of Thailand start to turn into dense residential areas, which are full of business centers and service complexes.
